Does anyone know how the tower end of this equipment attaches? I am with an antenna mount manufacturer and want to make our mounts more RRH friendly for the equipment and the installer.
Thanks! Leo

Remote Radio Head seems to be the tower top mounted end of the new technology that puts most of the transmitter componentry for one sector near the antennas and the BBU (I don’t know what that stands for yet.) is at the ground. A single hybrid cable containing electrical power conductors and fiber (some designs have this bundled in a diameter equivalent to 7/8” coax) connects the two units and eliminates all of the other feeder coax lines. The BBU has a much smaller footprint too and I’d like to provide the platform or whatever mounting design these require too.
Any input is appreciated! Thanks!!!
Interesting topic, I always wanted to know about the structural characteristics of these RRH verses the traditional ground based BTS and coax runs. Also lightning survivability with less grounding points between the transmission equipment and tower. Sorry I got off topic but these are really neat units.
